.We asked him a few questions about his working life:

How do you write rough drafts?

The advent of the computer and word processing has made writing (well, when the words come) much easier.  Some early stuff I wrote would take years.  Now it is much faster.  Although, my fingers don’t get as much of a workout (or maybe they do).

Why do you write?

I want to tell stories that entertains, first of all, and hopefully in the end helps to inspire the good that we all have in us.  My stories to date, while not specifically focused on LDS subjects, try to address struggles we go through, primarily in the family, and how we can overcome these struggles.  As I write more stories and start to bring my focus more aligned with LDS terminologies and beliefs, I still see my overall focus on an uplifting theme of some sort.

When do you write?

Whenever it’s my turn on the computer.  Between Myspace for my son and daughter and Fandango games for my wife (yeah, me too.  I’m a Mah Jhongg junky.)  Most of the time that means an hour or two a day depending upon the day.

Do you have a new treat in the works for us?

Yes. My attempt at LDS fiction is raging like an exploding inferno of gospel laced literature.  Stayed tuned.

How does the gospel impact your writing?

I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the Lord’s gospel and how it affects what I write.  I want what I write to reflect who I am and what I believe in.  I want to convey a positive gospel message that will hopefully resonate and stay with people.  Above all, I hope the Lord will judge my work and be pleased.

How does a shy person promote?

This is the type of person I am.  The thing I least look forward to is promoting.  I have an aversion to publicity and I religiously try to avoid it.  Unfortunately, that doesn’t bode well for sales
